While Badaling is the more popular section of The Great Wall, I was told to check out Mutianyu as it is less crowded and with just as nice a view. Planned the journey on my own since I didn’t travel to Beijing with rif – took a lot of getting used to because traveling itineraries [...]
There’s been a lot of hype about Fierce Curry House in Bangsar, including two shortlists Best Cheap Eats and Best Indian in TimeOut KL Food Awards. The restaurant offers a range of Northern and Southern Indian cuisine and is known for their biryani, namely the lobster biryani. If I’m not...
My love for curry laksa started when I was 16, after my very first bowl at the coffeeshop in Lucky Garden. Since then, Im always on the lookout for curry laksa. There’s this curry laksa stall in KL (Restoran Sin Hoy How) which I find decent. It’s located across the road from Hong Ngek and [...]
We’ve been staying at our new place for a week now and are moving our things in bit by bit. For now, we got most of the basics covered. Our home is still pretty bare because we’ve yet to decorate it. There are many things we want to do to spruce things up, but these [...]
Elegantology Gallery Restaurant is a concept that combines gastronomy and fashion under one roof. Helmed by Johnny Fua and Sherson Lian, the cuisine is Asian inspired with surprise elements in one dish. This restaurant cum couture gallery also offers exclusive men’s fashion and accessories by local...
I used to joke that I’d marry a Thai and live in Bangkok so I can eat as much Thai food as I want or possibly can. There’s just something about their cuisine that appeals to me – sour, spicy and sweet are my favourite notes. From 19 – 25 September, you can now tuck [...]
Jewel Chinese Restaurant in The Westin Financial Street Beijing is known for its fine Cantonese cuisine and modern presentation. The restaurant setting is elegant, adorned with a beautiful ornamental teapot display and antique furniture. My lunch began with a chilled starter – shredded chicken with sesame...
Over the long weekend, a few of my readers informed me that some of the links to my blog posts were down. Links to popular posts, especially – all the Top 10s were down. These days, malware has been an issue on the blog. I’ve lost count on the many times my web host had [...]
rif and I stumbled upon Capital Nasi Dagang last weekend when we were driving around Damansara Uptown in search of a lunch place. It was close to 3pm and we had just finished running errands and picking up some things for our new home – and most lunch places were closed. The name Capital Nasi [...]
The second Sunday of September was a hectic one for both rif and I. Seems like it was an auspicious day to get married and move into new homes. We did the latter. So there were three wedding sessions we attended that day (jip san leong, Malay wedding and Chinese wedding dinner) and in between, [...]
I first heard about The Datai from a reader of mine, who recommended that rif and I celebrate our wedding anniversary there this year. We looked up The Datai on Google and from the pictures and positive reviews on TripAdvidor, it sounded like an amazing place. Two months later, the PR of The Datai Langkawi...
Prime at Le Meridien Kuala Lumpur serves possibly the best meats in town. I get my fix at least once a month and after trying the various steak places in town, Prime still remains my favourite. Not because the other places aren’t good – but because the chefs at Prime know just how I like [...]
I wanted a peephole for my door ever since rif and I collected the keys in March this year. My reasoning to him for this was that I wanted to be able to see who’s outside my door without opening it. In case of danger. But the security for our place is pretty tight (even [...]
When rif and I decided on the apartment of our choice, we didn’t factor in the amount of housekeeping that needs to be done. Our mini renovation and furnishing the place cost quite a fortune and left us with very little budget for anything else. So we got this robot vacuum cleaner from Lazada – [...]
Yi Poh in Seremban is known for its Hakka Mee and Loh Shi Fun – both served with minced pork and char siew slices. On our way back from Melaka, we stopped by for lunch to see what the hype was; my mother in-law claimed the food is good. Ordered one Hakka mee each and [...]
So the blog giveaway prize-giving ceremony happened last Saturday, and Maju Palace Restaurant very kindly agreed to host it. FYI, they also hosted the giveaway in 2012. Am truly grateful for the support from Oriental Group of Restaurants. This year, the event was a lot bigger – with more than 70 pax...
Chocolate cake is food for my soul. But it can potentially ruin my mood if I dont get it the way I want and when I want. You have good old classic chocolate cake that never fails, especially when it’s all nice and moist. And then there’s chocolate lava cake that is decadent and molten [...]
I once had asam laksa and tomyam every day for two weeks, so much that my mother thought I was pregnant. These are my two must-haves whenever I’m feeling crabby; along with fried chicken. During one of my crabby phases, rif took me for fried laksa in SS14, Subang Jaya. The Fried Laksa (RM6.50) was [...]
When Le Meridien came up with the Yard of Sausage Challenge at Gastro Sentral, many tried to tackle this giant monster. Imagine putting away more than 1kg of giant chicken Kransky sausage with nacho cheese, tomato salsa, guacamole, pickled jalapenos and deep fried onions. That, and also a pound of fries.
I got this email from a reader expressing his disappointment because I’ve been doing less food posts these days. Firstly, I did mention that the blog is heading a different direction and while food is still a big part of Bangsar Babe, it will not be the only thing I blog about. Besides, both rif [...]
